I make short videos, heavily inspired by experimental folk and electronic music. I am a self taught keyboard player and acoustic guitarist. I studied music production about 10 years ago and learned to record in Ableton live as well as mix and master. Currently, I'm really inspired by samplers & Comb sequencers combined with acoustic and found sounds. A huge part of my sound blends open tuning style American primitive guitar with heavier sounds of black metal.

Recorded four tracks of piano onto the S4 and then perform them using some subtle manipulation of pitch, playback looping, as well as some added effects and samples from my chroma console by hologram electronics as well as my Roland, SP 404MK2.

another open tuning guitar track built-in mic recorded nylon string guitar song. I shared some of my original photography as well and I used the Roland SP404 to trigger three additional samples occasionally add some delay and to record the USB-C audio.

Making a track by simply recording four different nylon string guitar parts with the built-in microphone and then using the mixer section to bring in the elements and then adding the dry wet of the pitch variations I have and eventually fading in distortion.

I personally absolutely love it. It's probably the perfect instrument for the type of music that I make although I realize it's not for everyone.

@@itsdrawkcab5899 I have no idea how stable it is because I just have this one device so I can't speak for others. However, in my experience, I've had absolutely zero issues with the device in terms of anything going wrong. Everything has been seamless and has worked flawlessly and the workflow is absolutely a joy. Also, very exciting to see where it's going to go.

Really fun tunes: I seem to share a lot of interests at the intersections of manipulating acoustic sounds through granular looping and digitial destruction-while retaining acoustic artifacts. And fascinating device, though I realize it's still in progress. I love what seems like an incredibly simple workflow that is focused on creatively juggling and granularizing phrases. Question for you: I currently am a big user of Glou-Glou's loop pedal-Loupe-which is based on the Echoplex Digital Pro. It's idiosyncratic, but I have a hard time parting with the looper because of its "multiply" function, which allows copy and pasting short phrases, while overdubbing on top of it. Does the S-4 do anything like this? If so, I feel like this thing is everything that I wish a device like the OP-1 would be. Sorry for long post, but thanks for reading!

Not exactly sure how you want to use the overdubbing or the copying but there are those features on the device, including overdubbing live recording on each track. The best part about this device to me is essentially the workflow as you're not really having to dig into anything in terms of menus everything is immediate at your fingertips.

Thank you. Excited to see how this sampler develops, particularly the "perform" section and "scenes". I am envisioning being able to switch between multiple 4 track tape scenes which would really help push this into a full arrangement box. The noise/compressors/drive options on the sound beautiful

Very nice composition! I'm intrigued by the 5 Moons now (never heard of it before and just looked it up). I have a two-track looper (the RC-500), but I'd love to have more tracks and the ability to bounce down. I suppose it would be hard to play live guitar or other two-handed instruments on it without a foot switch, but it seems like it could be very useful for more synth/sample-based music. I read some people complaining about the lack of synchronized track lengths, MIDI quantization, etc. - but I guess that could be a pro more than a con for doing more free-flowing, ambient-ish music?
yeah, with Critter and Guitari their creations are making something that has artistic value, but also does something really simply and well. If you're looking for something that can loop and has full volume control and bounce down it's perfect but it comes at a little bit of a price, considering how limited it is.
